Your Sweat Doesn't Replace Your Body Moisturizer

Repeat after me. Just because it's getting warmer doesn't mean we stop moisturizing!

There can be this weird misconception that during the winter our skin gets dry and the rest of the year we're good to go. That's not necessarily the case. In the summertime we tend to sweat more and for some of us that means 2-3 showers a day. All that soap we use showering can strip our skin causing it to feel dry and tight. It's important to keep our bodies moisturized in the summertime too!

Today we're thinking outside the box as we go through a few ways we can moisturize without using traditional body lotion 🙌🏾

Body Oils

Don't worry, you won't become an oil slick when you find the body oil for your skin. Many brands have their take on a body oil but few create a formula that our skin can absorb without feeling sticky.

If you'd like a recommendation on where to start, may I suggest Innisfree's Moisturizing Body Oil with Olive, $21. I kid you not when I say that I have used over 10 bottles of this stuff. I use it year round on my decollete but in the summer I use it all over my body. It even keeps my elbow moisturized throughout the day (and my elbows can cut paper when dry)!

In-shower Body Lotion

Yes, you read that right! These are body lotions that you apply in the shower. Most of them work the same way. After you rinse the body wash off rub your in-shower body lotion on, then once applied all over rinse it off and you're good to go. Honestly, this is my favorite way to moisturize when I'm only leaving the house to go grocery shopping or if I know I'm going right into the heated yoga room.

My personal favorite brand is the NIVEA Nourishing In-Shower Body Lotion, $5.49. This formula moisturizes from head to toe and I never feel like there's a weird film on my skin after.

Moisturizing Body Cleansers

Lastly are moisturizing body cleansers! These are the best to use before bed or for when you're headed straight to a workout first thing in the morning and know you'll want to shower (and apply a moisturizer) afterward. When searching for these type of cleansers try to look for soap-free formulas. Soap-free cleansers usually don't foam up. Instead they froth up or don't produce bubbles at all.

I really love the Innisfree Nourishing Body Oil Cleanser with Camellia, $18. I apply it with a washcloth and sort of smooth it over my body in circular motions. The result, soft skin that feels as if my skin drank in the moisture. The best combination is slipping into a bed with freshly washed sheets after showering with this!

Now you can stay moisturized without feeling like you have a blanket of cream on you in the summer 🙌🏾
