Time to Tone... Your Face

Updated: May 28, 2020

Yes you read that correctly! This skincare Sunday is all about facial toners 🙏🏾

If you are new to the world of toners, welcome! In general toners are a liquid that help to balance the pH of your skin after you cleanse and before the remainder of your routine (serum, oil, moisturizer). With that being said not all toners are the same, there are a variety of toners to tend to a variety of skin types.

Personally, I have sensitive combo skin (including sensitivity to citric acid & certain fragrances) so unless you're allergic to a specific ingredient these 3 toners should balance your skin without irritation/drying. And if you have combo skin they will balance out the oils of your skin so that your doesn't feel tight nor like an oil slick.

This is my daily morning dual purpose toner. It balances the skin's pH white also providing moisture. I use about 6-8 drops and pat this product directly onto my face. No cotton round necessary! In the summer this also replaces my moisturizer so I can Just cleanse my face, apply this product and sunscreen to top it off.

A little goes a long way with this product. Using it mainly in the morning, one full size bottle lasts me about 8 months. No I'm not exaggerating, it LASTS!

Akar Skin: Balance Toner, $55

This item is definitely more of a treat. It's not a lot of product (only 2.4 oz) and it is a bit pricey but it works SO well. While the salicylic acid exfoliates the pores the saffron helps to repair the skin. I use it by spraying it onto a thin cotton pad and swiping it over my skin after cleansing. If it were double the size for the price point I would probably repurchase it more often. But it is a great treat for your skin.

Saving the best for last, here is the toner I have gone through 4 bottles of (I'm on my 5th right now). This toner can be used as a toner and an essence. Meaning you can use a cotton pad to swipe it over your skin and/or pat it into your skin for an extra boost of hydration. I put 4-5 drops on a cotton pad and gentle swipe it over my skin. I love that Klairs made an unscented version of this (there is a scented version as well) so that I don't have to worry about fragrance irritating my skin. The Beta-Glucan in this product aids in moisturizing your skin so you don't feel a tightness after using this toner 🙌🏾

This concludes our short and sweet journey through toners. So the next time some asks you if you tone you can say YES. Then point to you supple and balanced skin complexion.

If you have any favorite toners feel free to comment them below! Especially if you have sensitive skin!
